Those of us who disdain the Daily Heil are not alone, indeed
I suspect we are the majority. You can easily tell if you are in a Daily Mail
reader’s house by the DVD’s used as coasters for it is only with these silly
giveaways and giving away a large part of its circulation for free that this
rag maintains its readership. Bravo then to the The Poke website, a tabloid
parody (Motto; “Time Well Wasted”) for updating its Daily Mail Moral
Underground map which brings together two of my obsessions, the anti-journalism
of the Daily Heil and Harry Beck’s iconic Underground map.

In preparation for London 2012 The Poke updated their Daily
Mail Moral Underground tube map to guide the influx of Olympic tourists to over
250 thrilling destinations in Dacreville, a somewhat schizophrenic place name
after Paul Dacre, the Daily Mail’s well pass his sell by date Editor.
Readers can now get a one-way ticket to Winslet, Wind Turbines
and Waitrose or purchase a cheap-day return to Tasers, Traffic Wardens and
Twiggy. There’s a whole new line of cancer attractions to worry about including
Facebook Cancer, Squatter Cancer, Salad Cancer and Minicab Cancer – but with
our handy guide to the Daily Mail’s pitfalls and windfalls of contemporary
Britain, you should at least know who to hate, and where to the hate them.
An excellent map and an essential guide to the world of strange
obsessions which drive the Daily Mail’s unique and dying brand of non-journalism!
