Since the Gaza ceasefire which took effect on the 21st
November 2012, there have been 4 Palestinians shot and killed by Israeli forces
in Gaza, and 91 injured. The Israeli military has carried out 63 shooting
attacks, 13 armoured incursions, and 30 attacks on Palestinians fishermen at
sea. Does anybody outside Israel, USA and the mind of Klingon Hague recognise
this as a ceasefire? Maybe that abused and vulnerable adult “Peace Envoy” Tony
Blair can help explain it to me?
Let us understand why this ceasefire brokered by previous US
Secretary of State Hilary Clinton and Egyptian President was necessary. Israel
launched an offensive on Gaza with the killing of Hamas military leader Ahmed
Jabari. The Israeli government says his assassination, and the subsequent
offensive, were aimed at ending rocket fire from Gaza. More than 150
Palestinians and five Israelis were killed. Indeed the only coverage in western
media of a ceasefire breach was of a single rocket fired into Israel on the 26th
February, the day of the funeral of Arafat Jaradat. Why did this detainee die
in Israeli custody 7 days after he was arrested and denied access to a lawyer
or visitors during that time? Well, according to the Palestinian Authority
Minister for Detainees, Issa Qaraqe, the detainee was tortured to death while
in Israeli custody.
Linger on those words. Tortured. To Death. Murdered in
custody. This in the only self-proclaimed “Democracy” in the Middle East. What was this “Democracy’s” response to calls
for the truth to be known about the death of a prisoner in its custody. Calls
for international intervention were part and parcel of an overall Palestinian
strategy and were “nothing new”, an official said. So search for truth and
humane treatment (laid out in law under the Geneva Conventions) don’t need to
be addressed because they are part of a strategy? Even Reinhard Heydrich never
had the brass neck to say that?

Note also the rocket from Gaza was not reported in the
Western Media as being in response to the torture and murder of the Palestinian
activist Arafat Jaradat, not in response to the constant Israeli ceasefire violations
nor in response to the hunger strike by 12 Palestinian out of over 10,000
Palestinian hostages held without trial or charge in Israeli Military Prisons
or convicted by Israeli Military Courts. For, dear reader, on the BBC, CNN,
etc; only Israel is allowed to “respond”; only Israel is allowed to protect “our
people.”
So next month President Barack Obama will not bring a peace
plan to Israel and the Palestinian Territories, but rather intends to listen,
Secretary of State John Kerry said on Tuesday. Obama’s plan to visit has raised
speculation of a new U.S. push to revive Israeli-Palestinian negotiations,
stalled since 2010 in a dispute over Israeli settlement expansion in the
occupied West Bank after Israel officially resumed its settlement activities in
breach of the Camp David accords but more importantly in breach of the Geneva
Conventions.

John Kerry, speaking to German students during his first
foreign trip as Washington’s top diplomat, played down expectations. “We’re not
going to go and sort of plunk a plan down and tell everybody what they have to
do,” Kerry said. “I want to consult and the president wants to listen.”
Obama, who has a testy relationship with right-wing Israeli
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, made peace between Israelis and Palestinians
a priority in his first term but, four years later, has little to show for it.
A more intelligent strategic approach for American would be to stop bankrolling
Israeli aggression, stop bankrolling Arab Dictatorships and stop destabilising
the Middle East by intervening in civil wars on the side of hard-line Islamists
and stop stationing American forces in Arab countries. If it wanted to get “Super Strategic” it could
impose a Two State Peace Plan based on the 1949 lines of control on its Middle
East proxy power which has increasing fallen in thrall to extremist zealots who
under George W. Bush were allowed normalise their extremism to the American
public.
And finally, they could stop redefining reality as in – A ceasefire
is a ceasefire except where it is an Israeli ceasefire?
